Imported from Antiquated Future, a brilliant American zine distro based in Portland, Oregon.
Alyssa Giannini's gorgeously illustrated personal zine, Wanderer. Issues are 24 pages, US half-letter size, thread-bound with cream cardstock cover.
Issue #5:
Road trips, house shows, gender identity, zine mazes, and odes to initiators of fun. As well as finding ways through depression and panic attacks and hard times.
My favourite piece is on platonic intimacy. Alyssa writes, "Friendship is so often undervalued in favour of romantic coupling. I say let's share longer hugs and learn to be vulnerable with friends and not just lovers. I resolve to shower my friends with love and affirmations at every available opportunity; be vulnerable and invite vulnerability. I just want everyone to know they're not alone in this big, messy world."
Issue #6:
A fantastic new issue of Alyssa Giannini's Wanderer zine. Within: new adventures in sobriety, attachment styles, the prevalence of men as DIY music gatekeepers, EMDR, the search for sober recklessness, and taking over the long-running DoDIY resource site. A great read!
