SHIPPING

We ship orders daily Monday - Friday. Orders before 11am will usually be shipped that same day.

Standard UK parcels are sent via Royal Mail 48, any package up to 2KG (4-6 LPs) is £3.95. For single smaller items (7"s / CDs / Shirts) it's £1.95.

Fully tracked Special Delivery (next day before 1pm) is also available.

INTERNATIONAL

With Brexit and other delays with international shipping worldwide unless you're only ordering one item all shipping will be via tracked airmail.

How long will it take to arrive? 

Europe - delivery aim: 3-5 working days

Worldwide - delivery aim: 6-7 working days

These are Royal Mail's estimates- in our experience it can sometimes take over a month.

IMPORT CHARGES / TAXES

You are responsible for all tax and import duties that apply in your country, please take those costs into consideration when placing your order.

As of the 1st July 2021, the €22 VAT exemption on low value items sent to the EU no longer exists. All parcels are likely to receive charges on arrival. We're working on a solution to report an pay VAT so our customers don't have to but at the moment situation is still very confusing for small businesses to navigate!

For now we are offering free shipping on any EU orders over £50! Orders will be sent tracked and hopefully this offsets some of the fees on arrival.

RETURNS / DAMAGE / CANCELLATIONS

If you wish to return an item which is not faulty you have 14 days and you must cover return shipping.

If the item is defective (e.g. a record skips or is audibly warped) we will do our best to replace it or offer a full refund if we can't. Please email photos / videos of the defect.

If a record is skipping please make sure your record player is properly set up and try adjusting the weight of your tonearm. If you have a turntable without an adjustable tonearm (e.g. all in one / suitcase / Crosley style) it is fairly common that playback issues can occur with otherwise playable records. We may ask you to try it on another turntable before offering a replacement.

Cancelling orders costs us money in processing fees, so please make sure you want to go ahead with the order and ask any queries before making payment. If you need to cancel an order which hasn't shipped please let us know as soon as possible.

MINOR COSMETIC DAMAGE

Sending vinyl records in the post is a risky business. We use good quality, brand new mailers (Lil Packing CLP) to ensure orders arrive in good condition.

Occasionally minor cosmetic damage (corner dents, seam splits or creases to the sleeve) can occur in shipping. Refunds will not be offered for minor cosmetic damage.

We regularly open records to verify vinyl colours and versions, and many records are never shrinkwrapped by the label. So while most of our items are new and unplayed, we can't guarantee everything will arrive sealed.

If you want to ensure your records are 100% blemish free we recommend ordering for collection or picking them up from your local record shop.

Is everything here in stock?

If you can buy it on the website (unless it's a pre-order) 99% of the time it's here, in stock and ready to ship.

We also sell in person and on Discogs so on occasion things will sell out before the website is updated. If there's a problem fulfilling an item in your order we'll be in touch.

What colour vinyl is it?

We do our best to accurately list variants with the information provided to us by our suppliers. With sealed records it can be hard to tell.

Please check the website for details, if a variant isn't listed chances are it's black or the recent / common colour. If you're only buying the record because of the specific colour variant please check with us before purchasing so you're not disappointed.

I want a record which is currently out of stock, when will it be available again?

If you find something listed on the website which is out of stock please sign up for an email / text notification. We'll do our best to get in back in stock asap. If it's readily available from one of our suppliers that will usually be within a few weeks.

Will you stock my record / zine in the shop?

Maybe? Send us the details - info@specialistsubjectrecords.co.uk. If it fits with what we stock and we think our customers would like it then we might be interested.

RECORD LABEL - FAQS

I run a record shop / distro where can I buy your releases?

Our label is distributed by Cargo Records and their partners worldwide (e.g. Cargo DE, Goodfellas IT, Alliance US, Border Music SE, Disk Union / Elmo JP).

Certain releases are also stocked by Sounds of Subterrania in Germany and The Business in the US.

Will you put out my record?

Honestly, probably not. We only release a limited number of records a year and only take on a handful of new artists.

BUT we very much welcome submissions, we listen to everything we're sent and we love that people like the label enough to send us their new recordings! Please send a private streaming link (e.g. Soundcloud / Youtube) and some details on what your plans and hopes are for your music.

Don't worry about sending us a fancy press kit, don't worry if it's unmastered, send us your roughest demos if you think the songs are good.

We don't always have time to respond to everything and we can't give detailed feedback but we will listen!
