Things have been a little quiet with Specialist Subject recently but got a few bits of news to tell you all about…

I’ve moved house! Specialist Subject is now based in the lovely Devonshire city of Exeter, if you’re planning on posting me anything drop me an email for the new address.
Bangers just got back from 2 weeks in Europe with Sam Russo which was a bloody good time, the shop is now back up online fully and there’s a few left over Bangers shirts available.
As you may or may not be aware Royal Mail are increasing their postage prices from the 1st of May so unfortunately that means we have to increase our prices too. Put in an order before Saturday and you’ll pay the old rates and save a little cash.
The Attack! Vipers! and Above Them albums are still out and still rule.
Our next release, a new Bangers 7” called “Good Livin’” is on the way and will be out 4th June. You can hear a track from it here:

So I’m going to be moving out of Birmingham soon for the sunny South West city of Exeter. Sadly that means no more Specialist Subject shows in Brum, so thanks to everyone that came out for Above Them last week really was a great way to end my time doing gigs here.

2nd full length from Southsea’s Attack! Vipers!. 12 new tracks of crushingly brilliant punk rock, post rock & metal influenced hardcore. Pieced together over the past year or so under the ever patient eye of long time collaborator Rich Tamblyn at the old Blacksmiths in Portsmouth, with Pete Miles mixing and mastering the whole thing at the end of 2011.

CALVINBALL / ONSIND / APOLOGIES, I HAVE NONE - SPLIT 12” AVAILABLE TO PREORDER

Way back in the summer of 2009 Calvinball, ONSIND and Apologies, I Have None embarked on a UK tour together. Soon after they had the idea to immortalize that tour with a 3 way covers split and here it is! Only took 2+ years!

This one sided split 12” features 2 tracks from each band, not merely covering but often completely reworking songs by the other 2.

Limited to 500 copies on black vinyl,.100 of which come with a screen printed B side - 50 for pre-orders here and 50 available at the free release show at The Old Blue Last in London on 16th November.

LITTLE LEAGUE / PURE GRAFT - SPLIT 7” AVAILABLE TO PREORDER!

2 new tracks apiece from Tallahase, FL’s Little League and Newcastle Upon Tyne’s Pure Graft.

Little League have a heavy take on the 90s indie rock / emo sound. Reminiscent of Braid / Small Brown Bike but never sounding too derivative! Pure Graft play fast paced punk rock heavy on the “rock”, doing their bit to bring back the lost art of guitar solos.

The Revival Tour (Chuck, Brian Fallon, Dan Adriano and Dave Hause) starts in Bristol tonight! I’m taking a bunch of copies of the new Chuck Ragan / Sam Russo / Jimmy Islip / Helen Chambers split LP down tonight so Chuck should have them for sale at most of these dates. These are pretty much the last copies of the 1st pressing (I’ve got about 15 left in the shop).

Sorry if you were planning on coming to the show tonight but it’s not going ahead anymore. Were hoping it wouldn’t come to this but given the trouble in the city centre and digbeth and disruption to public transport the past 2 nights we thought it’s better to cancel the show than risk anyone getting into problems getting here and back.

Totally gutted about it, going to try and get both bands back to Birmingham next time they’re in the UK.

If you’ve bought tickets you will get a refund, paypal is being annoying though so it might take a couple of days before everyone gets their money back.

Incredibly excited to announce our next release! Chuck Ragan plus 3 of his (and my) favourite singer / songwriters from the UK punk scene, Sam Russo, Jimmy Islip and Helen Chambers. Each artist has contributed 3 tracks, Chuck’s being covers of some of his close friends Darren Gibson, Helen Chambers and Leatherface.

Initial pressing of 500 copies - 200 white / 300 black vinyl. Pre-order and some tracks to check out will be online soon and we expect these to be ready to go early to mid September.
